Launchpad Thumb Guard Tips and Tricks
We want baseball and softball players to get the most out of their Launchpad, so here are some tips on fitting it, wearing it, and caring for it.
Custom fitting your Launchpad
While Launchpad is designed to have a snug fit, some players have extra large thumbs or may wear thicker batting gloves. In these cases, we recommend taking advantage of Launchpad’s thermoforming material to achieve a custom fit.
- Fill a microwave-safe container with enough water to cover the entire Launchpad, and heat the water only for 2 minutes. If you don't have a microwave, you can heat the water to a boil.
- Carefully place your Launchpad in the hot water for 2 minutes before removing it with a utensil (please don’t put your hand in boiling water!) and then immediately put it on your hand - preferably over your glove if you wear batting gloves.
- Leave it on your hand for 5 minutes while it cools, and when you take it off it will be custom-formed to your hand.
- If you still want it looser, repeat the process and make sure to stretch it out a little more this time, even using your thumb’s second knuckle to stretch it a little extra.

Putting on your thumb guard
To ensure the best fit, we recommend sitting your Launchpad on your thumb as shown below. Then, twist it back and forth as you push it down your thumb. Once at the base of your thumb, spin it back into its optimal position.
Launchpad was designed to lock in place once it’s at the base of your thumb so it stays snug and secure and feels like part of your hand
Caring for your Launchpad
Launchpad is the most durable thumb guard on the market. It will last you a long time, but that won’t prevent it from getting dirty or covered with pine tar. To clean it, we recommend using warm water and mild dish soap. Using a sponge or a rag, rub and wipe any dirt and sticky substances away until it looks fresh and clean again, and repeat as often as needed.
That will keep you looking so fresh and so clean at the plate.
